I LOVE my life!!  I must say I feel so incredibly lucky to have been blessed with such a wonderful man to spend my life with, and we have an incredibly wonderful little boy that lights up our days.  I look into Quay's eyes and see the love he has for me shining right back and I just can't help but feel all giddy inside. He just makes me so happy! He provides for our family without (much) complaining, as long as he has clean socks and underwear he's happy. That's really the biggest complaint I get from him, when I forget to wash clothes. Haha!

Just about 2 weeks ago I saw two job openings that I know I could do. I actually called on one and got more info on it.  When Quay got home from work I told him about it and he replies, "I don't want you working".  He wants me home when he's home, how sweet is that. I offer to make a little money for our family, and he just wants me to be home with our son. I just couldn't ask for anything more in life.

Last week Sunday was Father's Day, and even though Quay had to work we got to spend a little time with him in the afternoon.

It was a busy week last week-I can't remember why anymore because it went by SO fast-but it's gone and here we are on a Monday again.  Saturday evening was Misty and Shawn's hometown wedding reception. We had a lot of fun! We got a little rain early in the evening for it, but after that it turned out  to be an awesome night!

Change

Life is all about change.  I don't handle change too well. I have to ease into it. It seems lately many things have changed in my life. Things are different this summer, and the easing has begun. This is the last summer with my boy before he goes to school. I know he will always have summers off, but it's his last summer where only Quay and I and our families have the major influence on him, not his peers at school.  My sister-in-law is now Mrs. Iverson, my brother Dan is married, my brother Andy has a girlfriend, my brother Steven is dating. Wow-that's a lot to take in! I do want one more change (or two!)  in my family life here at home, and I am praying that happens soon. It makes me sad and happy all at once to think about all of these changes-because everything is different again, new.

Ryder and I spent the evening out at the farm yesterday. Dan and April came out as well. We went for a hike to see the pond that is spilling over it's banks onto the road. Ryder enjoyed throwing rocks in to the water to see how far they would go. There is too much water this year in ND. It's a soggy mess, and the rain just keeps on coming.  The guys all played frisbee in the yard while us women watched and laughed at their sillyness.  I love spending time with family-I am so glad we have the opportunity to do it so often.

Great week so far!

Quay started his 4 days off on Sunday, and we have spent them wisely! Sunday we planted the garden-and it has gotten a lot of rain so far, so when the sun decides to shine it should take off nicely. Sunday afternoon we headed out to the lake. First we drove over the damn and parked by the spillway to see the water coming out of the gates-WOW is all I have to say. It is quite the sight to see the power and the sound of the water coming out-the turnaround look out point which normally may have a car or two in it in the summer looked like a parking lot at Walmart with all the cars and people! With as much water is coming out of those gates-I can't believe we still have water in our lake. We drove south of Riverdale and went on a small hike to see the waterfall from the spillway gates. We didn't get very close-so we plan on driving back up to take another hike on a closer hill.

Sunday evening we finally made it to the marina. Ryder did a little fishing off the dock-but didn't catch anything. We weren't sure if we were going to stay the night, because the pending weather didn't look too great. But we decided to stay and this time the dogs did really well. Roo laid at our feet all snuggly and shaking from the thunder. Not every night I get a vibrating bed! Ha! Odie laid right below our bed on his dog pillow.  I slept pretty good despite the pounding rain on our "roof" and the splashing of waves on the side of the boat.

Monday we took the Lil' Slippery out on her 1st voyage of the season.  We made it out and back!!  So she floats, sails, and motors! Hooray!  It was a really nice ride--it was a gorgeous afternoon on the lake. We sailed out to the face of the damn and back. Ryder and Quay got truckers driving along the top to honk their horns and waved to all the drivers. I would say 95% of them waved back.  We all got a little sunburned and were pretty tired by the time we got home that evening.  The dogs are going to make wonderful sailing dogs, Odie just laid in the cabin and Roo sat with us up in the cockpit.  I asked Quay if he thought we could go sailing (just me, him, and Ryder--because we did have Rocky and John along to help out) and he thought with a few minor adjustments on the boat we could. Oh boy. I told him to just tell me what direction to point the boat while he hoists the sails-and he thought that sounded pretty good. (I think I can, I think I can). I will just keep repeating that. It all makes me a little nervous, but we'll get the hang of it. I am getting my boat organized too. It now has more home touches to it than Quay's tools.

Today we went to Bismarck and spent too much money. Imagine that! That's why we don't go very often. It was a rainy day-good day for shopping. We saw the raging river, and I don't envy any of those people in the flooded areas.  I have been flooded myself, and it's not a fun experience.

Yesterday was a wonderful day!! Ryder and I spent the entire afternoon outside. It was cloudy but warm out, with no wind. We cleaned out flower beds, sprayed weeds, filled bird feeders, mowed.  I finally got the garden tilled-so that needs to get planted. When Quay got home we cut up the tree branches in the backyard that fell last weekend and had a bonfire to burn the sticks.  It was just a nice day-I felt like I got something accomplished. I admired some of my flowers in the yard also!! I love the simple beauty of a flower. No matter what kind it is. Just think of the time and thought God must have put into each flower! Wow!
While I was mowing, Ryder was exploring in the back yard.  I finished and came in the house to find he had picked me some flowers and put them in a vase all by himself.  I asked him how he got the vase down and he replied with "I crawled up on the counter and got it down." Oh boy! haha!  What a sweetheart!

Busy!!

Wow-what a busy week it was! Friday night was rehearsal for Dan and April's wedding. Saturday was THE wedding!!! It was beautiful! I only teared up a couple of times. I was so honored to stand up front with my whole family and witness such a wonderful event.  The bride was stunning, the groom was handsome and we all had a GOOD time!! The dance was so much fun-we all want to do it over again.

Sunday we watched them open all their gifts, they definitely won't need to buy wine glasses or crockpots! Ha! They got lots of nice stuff and got a good amount moolah! I just couldn't be happier for such a sweet couple.  I just love weddings and what they represent.

Monday was Ryder's 6th Birthday-his golden birthday. It was a great day and our family came out to help celebrate with us in the afternoon. He got lots of great gifts and I know he truly enjoys each and every one of them. I can't believe my baby is 6-where did the years go? He goes off to kindergarten in the fall and then what am I going to do with my time? I won't have him here to keep me company and make me laugh. I will look forward to 3:30pm every afternoon when the bus drops him off. I always loved having my mom home when I got home from school. She would often have fresh cookies for us to eat and was always there with a smile.

Monday evening we went out to the lake and splashed our boat. It is floating nicely in it's slip at the state park. We stayed on it Monday night through a thunderstorm and WIND. I must say our new cushions are quite comfy despite the fact that I don't think I got much sleep due to 2 dogs that kept us up. One doesn't like thunder, the other is a puppy and would not settle down. The next day when I got home I still felt like I was rocking in the boat.

What have I done all week--hmmmm. Went to the farm for a day, today I got groceries and bought a few flowers, washed clothes. That's about it. Waiting for summer to come back after we had those two nice days last week. I think summer forgot about us here in ND.

Whew

What an exhausting day!! Not so much because I was incredibly busy (although I did do laundry, planted flowers, washed the car), but it was WINDY and HUMID which makes one feel quite weak. It was really warm today also-in the 80's!! I guess they call this season...um.. spring ....or maybe summer?? Not sure anymore?

Finally finished Dan and April's wedding programs tonight.  Never again will I print them on a home printer. It sucked to simply put it.  I am tired-going to bed. Finally a night before 1am!
Wow-we have been so crazy busy lately with everything I haven't had the time to sit down and collect my thoughts.  We got the boat pretty much ready to go-just a few minor things to do on it yet, it is up in Pick City at the State Park. A friend of ours offered to pull it up for us, so we took him up on it.  The weather has been crappy lately, it rained for a day or two and we had ND hurricane winds for a few days.  Today it finally shaped up into what actually felt like a summer day. I bought flowers yesterday, and today I planted almost all of them. quay mowed the lawn again today as it was starting to look a bit like a jungle again after a week.

Only 2 days until the wedding!! Wow! Tonight Dan and April came out to help me with the programs. I only screwed up on printing them a few times. It is a long process and takes a lot of ink-but we should get them done by tomorrow night sometime.  I am tired-I stayed up until 2am making them last night. My bed is calling my name!
